Ultimate Artist Page verification guide and more

We want to focus more on artists and want to become the go-to-platform/app for artists to document and showcase their work. In these challenging days where the once so great social media apps have snuffed many artists, where AI and algorithms push artists away because they lost touch with their audience and don’t see any engagement anymore with their followers (more on this on a recent blogpost we shared). Download our app and look at the timeline with every hour new artworks being uploaded or users liking and spotting artworks whereever they go.

Street Art Cities has become more than a documentation platform, as new features have enhanced activity, interaction and engagement between users, hunters, artists and basically every player in the urban scene. Download our app and take a
So we’re inviting artists to verify their artist page on Street Art Cities and take full control of their work/content on our platform. Before we continue, here’s some history:

Street Art Cities origin story
Street Art Cities began as an ambitious initiative to document and celebrate the growing global phenomenon of street art. The project was founded in 2016 by a handful of passionate street art enthusiasts and tech wizards, who were determined to create a comprehensive platform where people could explore and appreciate urban art in its diverse forms.

Street Art Cities initially started as a simple website and app, allowing users to discover street art in various cities around the world. The platform quickly gained popularity, as it offered a unique way to explore urban spaces, connecting users with both iconic murals and hidden gems. The community-driven nature of the project encouraged users to contribute by uploading photos, tagging locations, and sharing stories behind the artworks.
As the project grew, Street Art Cities began collaborating with local governments, cultural institutions, and festivals, further cementing its role as a key player in the street art community. These partnerships allowed the platform to host events, tours, and exhibitions, bridging the gap between the digital and physical worlds.

Today, Street Art Cities is recognized as one of the largest and most comprehensive platforms dedicated to street art. It continues to document the ever-changing urban art landscape, preserving the ephemeral nature of street art while making it accessible to people around the world. Through its ongoing efforts, Street Art Cities has not only helped to legitimize street art as a form of artistic expression but has also fostered a global community that appreciates and supports this vibrant art form.

Enough about us, time to talk about you artists and how to verify your artist page!

Verify your artist page:
Over the years our hunters have documented over 60.000 artworks across the globe, we collected all the art on seperate pages: ARTIST PAGES! and now we’re inviting artist to verify their page. You might think WHY?, well here’s a couple of reasons how you can benefit from verifying:

1. Take control over your artist profile and grow your audience
All documented artworks are your work, you can add or alter, if you’re not happy with the pictures for example. On the other hand if you really like some of the shots our hunters took, you can ask them if you can use them.
Our users can also follow you with our app, but also like, mark your work as seen, let you know it has been removed or vandalised or just leave a comment.

2. Qualify for our monthly ‘Best Of’ awards
You’ve probably heard of our monthly ‘best of’ or our ‘best of the year’ awards in january. So far we keep list of everything new (we come accross on social media that is) and share a selection of 100 in our Instagram stories. Our audience votes and we recalculate these numbers to end up with a top 10. The top 3 of every month qualifies for our annual ‘best of’. But this becoming more challenging every month, we can’t see everuµything, some artist post their finished art weeks later or never! So starting from next year, we’ll organize the ‘best of’ directly from our platform. In order to submit your work, you need to have a verified artist page.

3. Drive traffic to your products by linking your webshop
By completing your artist page and adding all your links, from website to socials and even your webshop, you can direct our users straight to you.
Or you can switch on our latest ‘GET IN TOUCH’ feature which allows possible clients to directly contact you for a commission/ job.

4. Embed a map of your artworks on your website
If you have a website you can embed the Street Art Cities map, no more worries of your own Google Maps map not working because they changed something in the backend. Our map always works.

In the upper right you’ll find some more interesting tabs:

You can change the header and thumbnail image to your choosing.
Add your bio and other personal info you like to share.
And off course insert some links to your website, socials and shop.

The latest new feature is the contact switch:

Don’t forget to hit that SAVE button after completion

ARTWORKS
Since the summer of 23 artists are now able to add their own work and build their street art map on the platform. We’ll share later on how to embed our map on your website.
There’s already a massive guide on how to add artworks, but here’s the basics in a nutshell;
You can add titles, location (please be specific and add the full addres, so our users don’t end up on a wild gooze chase looking for your work).
Throw in a couple of pictures and please check out the ADVANCED DETAILS section next to the SAVE button. A liitle sidebar will pop up:

Here you leave some more information using the marker tags, the most interesting ones are the ‘creation date’, ‘festival’ and ‘organzation’. Which allows you to name the people who supported you and bonus of this info is that it makes them searchable on the platform and app.

TOOLS
Under the Tools tab you’ll find a QR code you can use to share your page and we can even track it.
And then you have the embed tool to generate a code which you can add to your website.

Well that’s about it, it’s a lot to swallow, but once you’ve worked with it, you’ll experience it’s quite intiutive and easy.
