Platform updates - Autumn 2024

It’s been a while since I did a post like this, so let’s talk about what has changed in the platform recently!

Country management & related tools

We’ve been investing a lot of time in the last couple of months getting our first country managers onboarded!

There’s still a lot of work to be done to scale out this team and give them better tools to manage our community, but we’re super grateful for their input already, and have been able to quickly make some improvements based on their feedback.

New homepage

But besides community management, we’ve also focussed on other things!

One of the most noticeable ones is our new homepage.

It’s supposed to show a bit more of the scale of our community, by showing the same real-time events that are visible in the app, and immediately letting you browse the map.

It’s only gone live today, so do let us know what you think, and if you have any feedback!

App 4.1.3

An updated version of the app went live yesterday on Android, and will go live tomorrow on iPhone.

The main new thing is our updated profile pages, which now show off all of your achievements as a hunter:

We’ll be extending this section a bit more in the future, but hopefully it’ll allow you to even better show off your amazing hunter stats!

In addition:

  • Solving crashes that were happening for some iPhone 16 users :grimacing:. Sorry!
  • Adding a new ‘quick add’ button in the hunter tab, which lets you quickly select some images from your camera roll, and pre-sets the location based on the GPS coordinates in the image, if available.

Some fun stats

I love looking at the stats on our platform, and seeing how active the community is!

Some highlights:

  • 41,837 likes across all of our markers
  • :bookmark: 22,697 community notes left on artworks
  • :medal_military: 112,282 badges awarded to users

As always, we'd love to hear your feedback on all of this, and thanks for your amazing activity on the platform - I get so happy opening the app multiple times per day and seeing beautiful new art!

Hey Thomas, one question, when viewing the Hunter stats page, what things contribute to “Contributions”?

Currently ‘contributions’ is just limited to the total number of:

  • Markers (artworks/places) added
  • Markers updated
  • Community notes processed

I’d like to extend that in the future to also take into account the adding of community notes, and potentially other things. Let me know if you have any suggestions!
