Everyone, we’re co-hosting a Street Art Expert Conference on the first of April, the day after the mini hunter meetup at the Crystal Ship Festival.
We have been planning this the last few weeks with Tourism Ostend and The Crystal Ship specifically for professionals in Street Art. Think of law makers, cultural departments and tourism agencies. But also: hunters! link to free hunter tickets at the bottom
We have prepared three panel sessions to addresses specific tensions within our field:
-
The City as a Canvas – Who decides what stays, and why? Who determines what belongs on city walls? How do you organize public art without neutralizing it? Featuring speakers such as Gary McKay (Yardworks Glasgow), Ted Fenton (Stadscuratorium Amsterdam), and Daniël Claessens (All Caps Rotterdam).
-
Street Art: Real social impact or ‘artwashing’? Is it expected of artists to solve problems they didn’t create? Do projects engage in a dialogue with neighborhoods or just with people? Featuring Giulia Briguglia (Sperone167), Mateo Macia (Global Street Art), Katarina Moreira (STAR 2.0 Street Art for the Future), and representatives providing an economic perspective.
-
Street Art and Tourism – Where promotion helps, and where it hurts. What should tourism promote? What should be consciously left alone? Featuring Jo Brooks (Global arts agent & publicist), Jesse Laufenberg (Visit Cologne), Tim Marschang (Street Art Cities), and Pieter Hens (Tourism Ostend).
