Hi! I’m working through the suggested artwork in Penge, and there are two beautiful collab pieces by Irony (one with Dot Master, the other with Aspire) that were suggested by @Ibrahim
I seem to recall that work by Irony is a no-no as per the artist’s request. Is there a way of giving the location without the photos, as i can foresee people repeatedly suggesting these, as they are gorgeous pieces?
Good question, crossed also my mind.
Thomas made a great solution in order we could still hunt his works. Wondering he could accomplish allowing us to add new Irony works too:).
I’m not happy with the thought of using a loophole, as it will result in Irony murals (even if it is a collab) being published, and that does go against the whole ethos of SAC respecting the artist and their wishes.
I would be more comfortable with using a generic placeholder image of text that says something like “There is a really good mural here, but as per the artist’s request, we can’t show an image of it”, and have a description of the mural, to give the visitor an idea of what to look for?
I agree with Stephen - it isn’t the right thing to put up a picture of the collaboration and only identify the other artist, as publishing the photo of the collaboration is still not respecting the artists IP claim.
Stephens suggestion of using a “text placeholder image” is better I think, as long as the artists IP claim is purely against the photo. If they have expressed that they just don’t want their work on the platform at all, then the only option is not to include it at all I think.
I also wonder what the artists who he has collaborated with would think of this, are any of them artists that any of you SAC folks know? It would be an interesting situation if one of them was “Verified” and tried to add the mural.
That’s fair, apologies - I was thinking this was more of a situation where the art was next to each other, but I indeed wouldn’t want to condone actually posting pictures of the art of Irony.
It was an intellectual property request, so primarily about the images, but the request wasn’t super specific, so I’d perhaps not include them at all, to make sure we comply with the wishes of the artist.
