We’ve been getting a few requests recently from community members that would like to reference artworks on OpenStreetMap.
We’re of course always happy for anyone to reference Street Art Cities markers, as long as the way of doing so complies with our community guidelines and acceptable use policy, so that we can protect and acknowledge the work our hunters put into the posts on the platform.
Some guidelines that might be helpful for OpenStreetMap:
Link references
Use the url
tag to reference to the full Street Art Cities URL of an artwork, like https://streetartcities.com/markers/f7f03427-d244-4fca-8888-bf77d6b9119e
.
Using Street Art Cities images
It’s not recommended to use SAC images directly (e.g. using the image
tag), as there is no standardized OSM system to give attribution to Street Art Cities hunters and photographers.
Linking therefore is recommended instead.
Custom streetartcities
tag
A custom streetartcities
tag has been proposed to specify the Street Art Cities marker ID.
This would look like:
streetartcities=f7f03427-d244-4fca-8888-bf77d6b9119e
Programmatic tools can turn this back into a SAC link by prefixing it with https://streetartcities.com/markers/
.
Hope that helps, and please let us know if you have any thoughts about this!
