Partially-Missing Cities

I’ve been working through the “Artworks with no city” list, trying to clean these up, and I’ve hit a few where the Artwork does have a City listed in some contexts, but not in others.

For example Dream big, think big by Bruna Rison - Street Art Cities , Artwork by Christian Storm - Street Art Cities , and Jeju Graffiti festival by Christian Storm - Street Art Cities all have the city in the Location, and if I try to “Suggest an edit”, the “Move to other city” box already lists the correct existing city. But the Details tab on each Artwork page only includes the Country, not the City, and whatever is generating the “Fill the gaps” page also doesn’t know it has one.

Something seems out of sync somewhere.

Ah, I discovered another useful datapoint on this: The Happy School by Tim Zdey - Street Art Cities .

This also appears on the “Artworks with no city” list, and has no City on the Details tab. But the address is Pedi Khola, and “Move to other city” already has Pedi Khola filled in. However, Pedi Khola isn’t usually an available option for a City, and doesn’t appear on the list of cities in Nepal on https://streetartcities.com/cities/continents/asia

Checking other other examples above, they also follow the same pattern. It looks like it some cases the system is deriving the city from the address, and others it uses a structured City field.

So my current guess is that “move to other city” is trying to be helpful in cases where there’s an address, but then failing because it’s generating a default option that doesn’t exist in the system.
