I’m a community member based in Bayonne, in the Basque Country. My wife and I are currently planning a trip to Rotterdam in the Netherlands (June 13–15), followed by Glasgow (June 16–19) and Aberdeen (June 19–22) in Scotland.
We usually enjoy exploring on our own by creating our own street art itineraries in the cities we visit.
However, if you have any tips, local recommendations, or any other info that could help us make the most of our stay, I’d love to hear them!
Nice to see you’re coming to visit my home town of Rotterdam
I would be happy to give you some tips, pointers, general info. The SAC map is pretty much up to date, so you will be able to find a lot about the potential hunting opportunities there. A big part of Rotterdam street art scene is organised by ALL CAPS link, so go check them out. They also host an annual street art festival, which has hit different areas of the city.
Also be sure to check out the Rotterdam Street Art Museum link, a great collection of murals in and around one of the big streets around central station.
Some local artists to keep an eye out for:
Tymon de Laat
Nina Valkhoff
Ricardo van Zwol
OX Alien
I AM EELCO
Mr. June
Dodici (Italian but based in Rotterdam)
TelmoMiel (duo)
If you have not yet booked a hotel, look in to the Nhow hotel. Not the cheapest option, but besides great location, it has murals by the elevators on many floors done by great street artists from across the globe.
Food and drinks options:
Botanero, great mexican restaurant and cocktail bar with a nice Tymon de Laat mural inside
Brouwerij Noordt, small local brewery in a great area of town with a lot of street art and nice boutique shops and small restaurants
Shout out if you have any questions or need more tips or info on a specific subject
