'Update location' button for map

Hey folks,

Many map features in apps have a button that recenters the map on the current user/device location.

When I first open the SAC app, it does often center the map view on my location (although I wish I could set the default zoom to a higher, more zoomed in, level). When I go back to the app periodically tho, in a new location, the view lingers on the prior coords/zoom. Then I have to start digging around for my actual location.

A re-center button would be a simple addition that smooths out my hunting experience. I’m even a software developer and cartographer, having worked with leaflet, mapbox.gl, deck.gl etc, that would be more than happy to implement this feature.

Hi Tom! Pressing ‘My location’ under the three dots at the top should do what you are describing, I think!

Yes it does. Click the “hamburger” menu top-right and choose My Location in the app.

on website you have added capability to type in an address too and centre map there.

Looks like that doesn’t always show up, for some reason. Now that I know its there, If I keep opening and closing the menu it will show up eventually/consistently. But I can also recreate instances where the feature doesn’t show up. This is on Android 16, Pixel 9a.

I would love it to be a static button, outside of a menu context. Might be an opportunity to make it a little more reliable in general as well.

Seems to be fine on my iPhone, in fact the map usually opens up on my location anyway, but the filter options menu is always there and always shows the My Location option, so must be an Android app thing.

I confirm this Andrew. I always have the blue dot on my exact location when I open the app on my iPhone.
