Madrid Feed being flooded with artworks from another city

Hi, I just want to check why so many new added artworks are flooding the Madrid Feed even though they are uploaded in another city, is there a strange bug, or is it because the artist being uploaded is ‘Unknown-Madrid’ ?

Thanks

I started moving them, I believe @Julian_GD is uploading very enthusiasticly.

Will have a word about it

Enthusiam without (city) borders!!!

Thank you!!

Hello !

This is probably something to adjust with the Suggestion feature.

I had the same issue in France : some artworks suggested in the right city (I have checked with the Hunter) appeared attached to another city in the App.

I have adjusted moving manually from a city to another one when both are in France.

Enjoy your day,

Isabelle

Good morning,

The artwork of Vitoria that “traveled” to Madrid Dashboard were not suggestion.

My diagnostic of the problem is.

1 I am hunter in Madrid and Vitoria.

2 If you are going to upload a new artwork as hunter, first you must ensure that the city in your Dashboard is the correct.

3 In my case, I think but I m not sure , uploaded some artworks of Vitoria having the city of my Dashboard wit Madrid

4 the artworks had the addres of Vitoria, the author of Vitoria. Aparentely all is correct but they appear in the Dashboard of Madrid.

5 I think that the problem is not important. The solution for the future is that the software verify that the city selected in the Dashboard is the same of the city in the addres of the artwork

  1. As you can see in the artwork Rey Midas by Sinp is in the Dashboard of Madrid but is published correctly in Vitoria.
  2. Yesterday after knowing the problem I was careful selecting Vitoria in my Dashboard and the problem was over

Solution is not always so simple as suggested in your number 5, as with larger cities where suburban areas have different names but are part of the larger city area. For example in Greater Metropolitan Melbourne we have many suburbs where addresses will be Brunswick, Collingwood, Fitzroy, Richmond, etc etc

So, solution is to ensure that correct hunter city profile is chosen before uploading as you suggest.

Good software must avoid human mistakes.

if you upload an artwork with addres in Madrid. Software must send that artwork directly to Madrid Dashboard independently of the profile selected in your Dashboard. In the same way if adress is of Madrid and you put author Unknown - Vitoria the software don’t must allow It.

I am no expert in mapping software but I am not even sure if what you’re suggesting is possible.

Currently the SAC database structure is designed (I think and the core team can correct me if I’m wrong), to try to give some flexibility to how a hunter team might want to define their city. The city/hunter/database structure was designed to give control over who can add artworks to particular regions. Whilst we refer to the buckets in SAC as Street Art “Cities”, they may not all be cities, may be a village, a town, a city or even in some cases a region covering multiple towns, villages etc.

Some cities, like Melbourne have been defined to be a larger area - when establishing the Melbourne map we decided to make Melbourne defined by what is called the Greater Melbourne Metropolitan Region, a government definition that actually includes 31 different councils and over 300 different suburbs/localities. This was because establishing hunter authorities for the 300+ suburbs would been just too complex and confusing.

Then add to that the fact that we have other cities that are very close to Melbourne, that border outer Melbourne suburbs - this complicates things further. Many of these would be much closer to the other city than they are to the geographic centrepoint of Melbourne.

Then we have other SAC “cities” like Blue Mountains, where another hunter has decided to group together a number of small townships into one “city” to ease the administrative burden of having different city buckets for each small township.

So as I said, I’m not even sure if what you are suggesting is possible, but if it was I think it might “break” some of the flexibility that is currently a part of the SAC database.

Sometimes programming in too many rules makes things more difficult for the users, and for those maintaining the software, and it is then up to the users to take some responsibility for correct usage.
