IDEA: Introducing the Artist Liaison Hunter Role

Hey everyone,

I’d like to share an idea with you all, something I want to run by the community before posting it more widely. I think it could strengthen both our platform and our relationships with artists.

The challenge we see today

Some artists naturally develop a strong connection with certain hunters, people who consistently document their work, stay in touch with them, or simply understand their artistic universe better than others. At the same time, not every artist has the time or headspace to keep their page updated, verify info, or send in new murals.

That sometimes leads to outdated pages, missing works, or incomplete information.

The idea: an Artist Liaison Hunter

What if artists could be paired with a dedicated hunter who acts as a kind of personal assistant? Someone who:

  • keeps their page up to date
  • adds new murals quickly and accurately
  • checks and completes missing information
  • serves as a direct point of contact between the artist and the platform

A sort of super‑hunter, but one who earns this role through proven commitment, reliability, and an existing relationship with artists.

Why this could work

  • We already have hunters who naturally operate this way.
  • It improves the accuracy and completeness of artist pages.
  • It strengthens the bond between artists and our community.
  • It gives hunters a meaningful growth path and recognition.
  • It raises the overall professionalism and consistency of the platform.

How it could function

  • Artists can request or confirm their Artist Liaison Hunter.
  • Hunters earn this status after a certain track record or recommendation.
  • The role remains voluntary but comes with clear responsibilities and respect both ways.
  • It doesn’t replace the existing hunter system, it expands it for those who want to take on more.

What I’d love to hear from you

  • Do you see this as a valuable addition to the platform?
  • What criteria should we use to award this role?
  • How do we keep it fair, transparent, and manageable?

Looking forward to your thoughts and feedback.

Interesting idea!

This can help to ease the artist’s life in the platform.

Hey Tim,
It sounds like an interesting idea, and I know that I would be happy to help some artists I love out like this, I only recently went in and added all the “historical” artworks for my favourite artist in Melbourne - who still isn’t a verifed artist though.

I’m not 100% clear on what additional accesses you are suggesting this role would have, are you suggesting they would update the fields that are currently the domain of the artist (like bio, profile pic etc), or just that they get access to add that artists murals irrespective of the city they’re in and where that hunter doesn’t already have access?

I’m ready to be one for some of our Czech Artists

As Toy_Box mentioned in her post about my friend Alex from Hong Kong (not active on SAC but she wrote a book “Colourful Hong Kong Street Art Stories” recently): “People like Alexandra are vital for the whole (worldly) scene of streetart doing such a great jobat describing and documenting while we (artists) are just too busy and covered in paint;) to photograph.”

Resurrecting this thread to say that I can see a lot of value in this. I suspect there’d be quite a few artists who would like the idea of having much more of their work featured, but don’t really want the hassle of figuring out yet another platform, and would be happy to say something like “feel free to take anything from my Instagram and upload it. Let me know if you can’t figure out the exact location or have any other questions.”

It would also be a great way to get more historic artworks in, and start to piece together a more complete history of some locations.

And for artists who have been active across multiple cities, some of which might not even have any hunters yet, it would help fill out the map a bit more, and hopefully attract in more locals from those places.
