For a while now I have felt like perhaps I am the only person processing Community Notes for Australia, but after some follow-up with one Community Note tonight, I think it may be because the system isn’t working properly.
There was a Community Note raised yesterday on this artwork.
The artwork was one that was hunted by Neda (@virusfreak). I followed up with Neda tonight and not only did she not get any notifications about the Community Note, but the Community Note isn’t even visible to her. When she checks the Community Note queue she just sees the “You’re all caught up” empty queue screen.
Neda is still a nominated hunter for the city where the artwork is located (Mansfield) and is also a super-hunter.
Shouldn’t the community note appear in her queue? Should she have got a notification?
When I view the Community Note queue I see the whole world’s queue, and have to filter down to Australia. Neda sees nothing. As a Super-hunter shouldn’t she see them all too? She should at least see ones for cities where she is a hunter.
I am really, really confused about how all this stuff is supposed to be working at the moment, and I know there are plans to fix it, but it seems maybe to me like now that as the CM I am perhaps the only one who has any visibility to these? And that’s not a good situation.
I am currently researching the veracity of the Community Note in question, I suspect it may not even be accurate.
When I view the Community Note queue I see the whole world’s queue too, I think. I see one from Audtralia, some from Ukraine, Odessa, one from London etc…
Thank you for letting me know. It is really strange that you can see this Community Note, but it does not appear for my Australian super-hunter who is also an actual hunter in that city, there is definitely some problem here.
I am now wondering if this is an app issue, as when I go into the Community Notes queue via Inbox on my phone, within the app, I also get the same “You’re all caught up” queue as Neda does (Neda is a phone user nearly all the time). So, it seems that when using the app the results bought up in the Community Notes queue is an empty queue for me, while when I do the same on my laptop/browser I can see the world’s community notes and filter down to Australia. Also, as another datapoint, if I use the website version from Chrome browser on my phone I get the full world’s community notes, same as on my laptop. So it seems that the app is doing something different (maybe forcing a different user profile or something).
It also explains why I feel like I’m the only one processing Australia Comm Notes as I think the majority of my hunters, and definitely my two Melbourne based super-hunters, are all “phone app users” primarily.
Yes Stephen you’re right - if you access the Inbox via the button on the main App feed screen, you get the always empty Community Notes queue, but if you go via the Hunter Dashboard and select Inbox from the menu within the Dashboard you can see the Community Notes.
There’s something wrong with that button @thomas and I think as this is the most obvious way to get there, it is what most of my hunters are doing, so no-one is ever seeing the community notes.
Sorry about that! I’m going to make the change today to get rid of the community note types and introduce a new ‘notifications’ view, which should resolve those issues.
